Human Design Transit Update: February 2-7, 2024
This week in Human Design, the sun is in gate 13 and the earth in 7 - two gates that make up part of the Incarnation Cross of the Sphinx. This activation occurs from February 2, 2024 at 10:03am est through February 7, 2024 at 11:10pm est.
This cross - and the energy of this week - brings strong directional energy, whether showing the path forward for others or finding your own direction.
This week you might experience an updated idea of where you want to go, and it might not be where you thought you were headed next. Unexpected wisdom and guidance might be found in an offhand statement or line in a book. Trust your instincts and stay true to yourself as you consider your next steps in life.
Both the sun and the earth gate this week are directional in nature, but gate 7 looks forward - “How can we take what we know, organize ourselves, and ensure we are going in the right direction?” And gate 13 is about listening to the past - “How can we take what we have experienced and ensure we don’t go backwards?”
With the energy of this week, we get a comprehensive view of our current situation, and we get to move forward in a clear direction.
Gate 13 (the sun gate this week) is known in Human Design as the Gate of the Listener. And, as the name suggests, if you have Gate 13 defined, you’re a natural listener. You might often find yourself on the receiving end of a story from a stranger, or constantly lending an ear to your friends and loved ones. And we all get to experience what it’s like to have this energy in our chart this week.
The energy of gate 13 orients us towards the reflection of our own and other’s experiences – hearing what’s unsaid, holding the secrets, the untold truths, and the wisdom of our collective experiences.
With Gate 13 defined, it’s important to remember that timing is everything. The wisdom here matures over time, and you need access to the correct opportunities to share your perspective and wisdom. The right people will always pull out your depth, allowing it to make the impact it’s meant to.
Gate 7 (the earth gate this week) is known in Human Design as the Gate of the Role of the Self in Interaction. While that might feel like a mouth full at first, it really means what it says! Who you are plays a great role in interacting with and leading others.
This energy brings the potential to be a strong leader, but only when your role (your identity and direction) is recognized and invited into that place of leadership by your would-be constituents.
Gate 7 is where the self steps into command; the essence of who you are and your unique direction in life draws others in who recognize the value you can bring and place you in a position of leadership. As you step up and into that role, you direct others simply through speaking your truth.
With Gate 7 defined in the transits this week, it’s important to remember that you can’t force your way into a leadership position — you must be elected! The most important part of this process is simply embodying and accepting who you are, and the innate value your self brings to the world.
Can you allow this week to be a directional reset for you? With the forward-looking energy of 7 and the reflective energy of gate 13, both of which are Identity Center gates, it’s a potent time to reconnect to your authentic direction.
You might think of this week as a big reminder that to be yourself and to find your own way, is the greatest service you can contribute to the world.
Human Design Transit Update: Jan 27 - Feb 2, 2024
This week in Human Design, the sun is in gate 19 and the earth in 33 - two gates that make up part of the Incarnation Cross of Four Ways. This activation occurs from January 27th at 9:05pm est through February 2nd at 10:03am est.
This cross - and the energy of this week - ensures humanity is nourished - physically, spiritually and emotionally. It’s a time to reflect on our past and strive toward the great unknown of our future.
This week you might need lots of connection with others, followed by periods of deep contemplation and quiet.
If life for you in recent weeks has been filled with contemplation or solitude, this might be an extroverted week for you — it might be time to get out into the world. And likewise, if life lately has been filled with going and doing, this is the week to slow down, reflect, and integrate.
Gate 19 is known in Human Design as the Gate of Wanting. It brings us the potential to be deeply attuned to meeting our own and others’ needs and desires — emotional and otherwise.
The energy of this gate provides the pressure and fuel to bring us toward what we need to be emotionally healthy. It’s concerned with the basic needs of the community, and ensuring everyone (including ourselves!) has what they need to survive and thrive.
Gate 19 is where we find the energy for the “marriage contract”; it’s focused on communal and relational needs and finding community who share certain principles so that our basic needs can be met.
With Gate 19 defined in the transits this week, it’s important to remember that fairness is necessary for healthy relationships and community. And this energy is healthiest when it’s in connection with others — meeting other’s emotional needs and having yours met too. It’s about mutual, communal care.
While the sun is in gate 19, the earth in 33 offers grounding and balancing.
Gate 33 is known in Human Design as the Gate of Privacy. This gate requires time and space so that it can reflect and make sense of the lessons of the past — eventually expressing them and providing a direction forward that supports the collective.
The energy of this gate holds and nurtures the end of experiential cycles. It is the calm after a storm of activity and life; it is the return to home, to the retreat in which we integrate all that has occurred.
Gate 33 is where we find the ability to express the wisdom of the collective’s experiences. As you reflect on all sides of an experience, a deep wisdom is gleaned. And when that wisdom is integrated, you can share what you’ve learned through a clear and concise voice.
With Gate 33 defined in the transits this week, it’s important to remember that you need proper time and space to reflect. Without the ability to withdraw, you (and the collective) may keep repeating cycles or disregard the wisdom that waits for you.
This week is the perfect time to focus on the needs of the human experience, both the mundane - like food, friends, sex, and shelter, as well as the transcendental - like solitude, reflection, spirituality and God or the universe.
Take good care of yourself and your people this week!
An Introduction to the Human Design Types
Human Design is a self-discovery system that combines of several different modalities including astrology, the chakra system, the I Ching, Kabbalah, and quantum physics.
Your Human Design chart is called a BodyGraph. You can see mine to the right (or below if you’re on your phone).
If you don’t know your Human Design, look it up on mybodygraph.com. Then read about your type below.
Reflectors
As a Reflector, you are open and receptive. You’re always sampling the energy of the people around you and the environments you’re in, and you’re designed to be a reflection of the world around you.
The nine undefined centers in your chart leave you open for deep wisdom, which you reflect back to the rest of us. You are a reflection (in mind, body, and spirit) of your environment, and you understand people on a deep level.
Reflectors are often referred to as a “non-energy type”, because all of your centers are undefined and you are powered by the people around you as you take in their energy and release it again. For that reason, it’s so important for you to protect your energy; to empty out the world every day and remove yourself from situations that don’t feel right.
Projectors
As a Projector, you are a natural guide. You are here to see others clearly, to take in their energy and amplify it back, and to lead the way when invited. You have a zoomed out view of the world that not everybody else has — you can often see the big picture, the whole picture, and provide direction from a more comprehensive place. You are the advice-giver, the deep conversationalist — and often, everyone’s life coach!
Projectors are often referred to as a “non-energy type”, because your Sacral Center (the home of life force energy and the fuel to work) is undefined. All that means is that you’re not here to do all the doing.
Instead, you’re here to deeply see and understand others, connecting with them, illuminating their inherent goodness, and guiding them when invited. In fact, knowing other people is often much easier than knowing yourself.
Manifestors
As a Manifestor, you are here to spark change in the world around you. You can act independently, initiate action, and impact others — and that is your superpower.
You are the creative genius, the innovator, the self-starter who initiates others into a new direction in life, and the one who doesn’t like to be told what to do. 🤪 When you’re truly living into your Manifestor aura, you may feel like you’re finally living for yourself.
You need the freedom to be in your creative flow, but you’re not necessarily designed to see every idea through to the end. You are the one that gets things started! You’re here to go at your own pace; to initiate and work in big bursts and then make space for deep rest and relaxation.
Manifesting Generators
As a Manifesting Generator, you are here to create and build according to what energizes you or “lights you up”. When spending time doing what you love, your energy ripples out into the world, uplifting others and energizing them. You are here to show the world a new way of doing things, to be nonlinear in your path, finding efficiencies and making changes as needed along the way.
As a Manifesting Generator, you are here to wait and magnetize opportunities to respond to so you can live a life of deep satisfaction. You’re also meant to redefine what work means and looks like, finding a way to marry work and pleasure.
Your process is often different from others: You can move quickly, be very action-oriented and multifaceted. You are meant to live life outside of the box, and it can take great courage to move through life according to what feels good and right to you, at whatever speed you need to.
Manifesting Generators are technically a subtype of the Generator type, so at times you’ll see only 4 Human Design types listed. Because MGs make up over 30% of the population, we find it helpful to distinguish between MGs and Generators.
Generators
As a Generator, are here to create and build sustainably according to what energizes you or “lights you up”. When spending time doing what you love, your energy ripples out into the world, uplifting others and energizing them. You are here to become a master at what you do, so it’s vitally important to dedicate the energy you have to things that feel good!
You have a warm and nurturing presence; it’s open and magnetic. And your radiance expands when you say “yes” to what excites you and “no” to what doesn’t.
As a Generator, you are here to wait for and magnetize opportunities to respond to — saying “yes” to what excites you and “no” to what doesn’t! — so you can live a life of deep satisfaction. You’re also meant to redefine what work means and looks like, finding a way to marry work and pleasure.
How to Harness the Wisdom of Your Undefined Centers
Finding and following the specific wisdom of your undefined centers begins with deconditioning from the energy and narratives you’ve taken on that aren't your own. Here’s how to do that -
Undefined or open centers (the centers that are white on your BodyGraph) are often referred to by what they’re missing; by the absence of an energy.
And because the energy in these centers is inconsistent, they’re also where we’re more inclined to be conditioned, to be affected by the energy of others, to have more “work” to do.
But that’s not the sole significance of undefined centers in our chart.
Because while we do take in energy in our undefined centers, and while we do tend to be more vulnerable to the unhealthy aspects of that energy — where there’s vulnerability, there’s also deep potential for wisdom.
In fact, there’s often greater opportunity for wisdom in these areas because it’s where we find the most opportunity for learning and growth.
In her book, Daring Greatly, researcher and writer, Brene Brown, says: “Vulnerability is not weakness, and the uncertainty, risk, and emotional exposure we face every day are not optional. Our only choice is a question of engagement.”
And through that engagement — with uncertainty, with risk, with emotional experiences, with life . . . well, that’s where we become wise.
Finding and following the specific wisdom of your undefined centers begins with deconditioning from the energy and narratives you’ve taken on that aren't your own.
Here’s how you can start to do that:
Undefined Heart Center
The Heart Center is the energy of will and worth, desires and dealings.
With an undefined or open Heart Center, taking in and amplifying the defined Heart energy around you, you may find that you work hard to prove yourself, overachieving or consistently trying to pump up your own ego. Or, on the other hand, you might downplay your achievements or set lower standards for yourself and others.
But just because your Heart Center is undefined doesn’t mean there isn’t wisdom to be found there. The wisdom of the undefined Heart is in understanding and acknowledging that you have nothing to prove; that you can find deep peace and a sense of worth in who you are, rather than what you do.
As you reconnect with the wisdom of your undefined Heart Center, ask yourself: Am I trying to prove my worth? What needs to happen for me to view myself as worthy right now?
Undefined Identity Center
The Identity or G Center is where we find identity, love, and direction. This is the seat of the soul.
When this Center is undefined or open, there can be a tendency to overthink this energy; to attempt to endlessly answer the questions, “Who am I? Who is going to love me? Who will tell me what to do and where to go?”
But the wisdom of the undefined Identity/G Center is in trusting that your love and direction is never lost; rather, it will come to you when you surround yourself with the correct people in the correct places.
As you explore the wisdom of the undefined Identity Center, consider this: Am I looking outside of myself for love and direction? How might I create a more nourishing environment for myself, trusting that the right place connects me to the right people and opportunities?
Undefined Throat Center
The Throat Center is the home of voice, expression, and action. It is the major energy center and the only Manifestation Center of the BodyGraph, because all energy within a chart is making its way there to be expressed.
When your Throat Center is undefined or open, you may feel anxiety about having to contribute something useful to the world. Because your energy in this Center is inconsistent, you may not trust you’ll have the words when you need them — or, even if you do, you may worry you won’t be heard.
But the wisdom of the undefined Throat Center is found in that tension between silence and expression; of being without doing.
In reconnecting with the wisdom of your undefined Throat Center, ask yourself: Am I pressuring myself to speak when I have no words? What might it look like for me to take action or speak on my terms, when I’m ready, instead of pressuring myself to make something happen?
Undefined Ajna Center
The Ajna Center is the home of conceptualization; where we process the pressure found in the Head Center.
When your Ajna Center is undefined or open, there’s potential to be obsessed with certainty and anxious about what you know (or don’t know) and what you share. Instead of sitting with any confusion, you may feel frustrated by it and afraid to advocate for yourself or admit that you just don’t know.
But there is wisdom in having an open and flexible mind: Not only are you wise to which ideas have value, but you’re able to challenge others to get clear on their concepts. This is the healthy aspect of an undefined Ajna.
If you’re still working toward that flexibility, try sitting with these questions: Do I need to be certain that this is truth with a capital T? Can I hold space for several possibilities to be true?
Undefined Head Center
The Head Center houses inspiration; it’s where we find the pressure to think and make sense of the world.
With an undefined or open Head Center, you may feel easily overwhelmed by doubt and confusion — both yours and others! — and try to release the mental pressure by taking action.
But, as you may have guessed by now, the wisdom of this undefined Center is found in the opposite: in remaining open to the wonder of the unknown and open to inspiration coming from many different places. In a healthy state, the undefined Head Center actually enjoys the question and confusion, trusting that the answers will always come.
To find your way back to that ease and openness with an undefined Head Center, ask yourself: Am I trying to find answers that aren’t needed right now? How might I allow the unknown, without trying to resolve it 24/7?
Undefined Root Center
The Root Center is both a Motor and a Pressure Center that processes pressure through an innate sense of drive, ambition, and stress.
When this center is undefined or open, you may feel the pressure to do without a consistent way to process it. This pressure can lead to overwhelm which leads to resistance which leads to shutting down . . . before starting the cycle all over again.
The wisdom of the undefined Root Center is understanding that the more you pressure yourself, the less you’ll respond. While the pressure will always be there, it is possible to enjoy it without being overcome by it — and it’s imperative to take time to release yourself from the pressure of others.
As you tap back into the wisdom of your undefined Root Center, consider these questions: How can I intentionally slow down and let myself focus on one thing at a time? How can I create space to do this task with ease and joy?
Undefined Spleen Center
The Spleen Center is the seat of our intuitive awareness, and it’s responsible for our survival. This innate body consciousness makes us aware of what’s good for us — and what’s not.
If your Spleen Center is undefined or open, you may not sense this awareness consistently. And because of that, you may hold onto what isn’t good for you or feel overwhelmed by fear.
The wisdom of the undefined Spleen is found in creating a sense of safety for yourself. That might look like letting go of something that no longer serves you. That might mean facing a fear, so you can move through it instead of avoiding it or being run by it. And it certainly means turning to your Strategy and Authority to make aligned decisions.
If you’re working on tuning in to the wisdom of your undefined Spleen Center, ask yourself: Am I holding on to something that isn’t good for me? How can I create a sense of safety for myself, so I’m able to let go of this habit/relationship/place?
Undefined Sacral Center
The Sacral Center is physical body wisdom and it is pure energy. Sacral energy is pleasure, vitality, fertility — it’s the energy for life itself!
With an undefined or open Sacral Center, you don’t have consistent access to this energy, though you’ll still feel it through the people around you and the transits. That being said, taking action without access to sacral energy can mean that you might take on too much. If you lack healthy boundaries and an understanding of your own energy, you may ignore tiredness and just try to push through.
The potential wisdom of the undefined Sacral Center is a balance of work and rest; having healthy boundaries that respect your inconsistent energy flow.
To explore the wisdom of the undefined Sacral Center, consider this: Am I stuck in the “on” position? Do I need a break? What is a nourishing activity that could help me wind down?
Undefined Solar Plexus Center
The Solar Plexus Center is where we find our emotional awareness, and the opportunity to welcome the full spectrum of our emotional experiences.
With an undefined or open Solar Plexus Center, you have inconsistent access to this energy, and may try to “manage” emotional experiences by avoiding confrontation or even avoiding emotional connections altogether.
But the wisdom of the undefined Solar Plexus Center is in the awareness of your full emotional experience, not the avoidance of it. The opportunity is to use your Strategy and Authority to know when to engage in confrontation and when to step away. Become aware of your emotional health, acknowledge your emotional needs, and advocate for yourself in relationships.
If you’re willing to explore the wisdom of your undefined Solar Plexus Center, ask yourself: Are these feelings mine, or is this my deep capacity for empathy? How might I set a healthy boundary to make sure I’m caring for my emotional needs?
***
As you work through this process, it can be helpful to start by focusing on one or two undefined centers at a time. Where do you feel you might experience the most conditioning? Which centers do you feel like need the most love right now?
Once you’ve journaled on the questions for each center, highlight the insights that stick out the most.
Does your undefined Throat need space before it speaks?
Is your undefined Ajna wanting to hold several different truths?
Does your undefined Heart Center need to be reminded of your inherent worth?
Ask yourself what you need; what the energy of that center needs. How can you best support that area, that energy, that center — now and in the future? What can you learn about yourself? How will you tap into that wisdom?
Then, practice giving that to yourself. Practice showing up for yourself — acknowledging and honoring the energy that is true for you in each of your undefined centers and opening up to the wisdom that is inherent through this process.
Because it is, in fact, inherent — that wisdom already exists in you. You just have to give yourself permission to find it.
